7 comma 1 of the regulation on admission with a foreign qualification reads: Per l'iscrizione a tutti i corsi universitari e richiesta una conoscenza della lingua italiana di livello minimo B2, ovvero della lingua straniera in cui il corso e integralmente impartito. That means B2 in Italian, or B2 in the language the course is entirely taught in. Art. 7 comma 2 lets each course set a different level, so the operative requirement is per programme. Accepted certificates are published per programme, with scores on some and not others. The Master of Law and New Technologies asks for a minimum B2 and names Cambridge English Language Assessment First, IELTS at 5.5 to 6.5, Trinity College GESE Grades 7 to 9, TOEFL iBT at 46 to 93, and the University of Oxford OTE at a minimum overall score of 111. The MA in International Studies asks for Level B2 proficiency in English acquired over the last three years and names IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge CPE or CAE, the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo English Language Test and Linguaskill Business, with no minimum scores published. The 2026/2027 master's admission notice requires English at B2 (CEF) for Sustainable Coastal and Ocean Engineering, Ingegneria Aerospaziale and Biomedical Engineering, and names no certificate for them. A medium of instruction letter is accepted where the programme says so. The Department of Law publishes it plainly for the Master of Law and New Technologies: No language certificate is required for students who have completed their studies at institutions where English is the sole language of instruction. The clause sets no country condition. It turns on the institution's sole language of instruction, so a Pakistani university where English is the only language of teaching is inside it. It is also a programme rule and not a university rule. The MA in International Studies page carries no equivalent waiver, so an applicant has to find the clause in the notice for their own course. The Duolingo English Test is on no Roma Tre admission list. It is absent from both programme lists above and from the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo list of recognised external certifications, which names IELTS, Aptis ESOL General and Advance, Cambridge Preliminary, First, Advanced and Proficiency, Cambridge IGCSE, TOEFL Internet Based Test, Trinity ISE, the Oxford Test of English, Pearson Test of English Academic, Pearson English International Certificate, Pearson IGCSE, LanguageCert International English as a Second Language and Gatehouse Award Classic IESOL. That CLA list is corroboration and not authority: it states Non sono riconosciute le certificazioni Graded, di nessun livello, while the Law master's accepts Trinity College GESE Grades 7 to 9, which is a Graded examination. One Duolingo score does appear on the domain. The Department of Political Science page on double and joint degrees reads: To take part in the program, students are required to submit an official English language certificate choosing among TOEFL (with a minimum score of 100), IELTS (with a minimum score of 7.0), DUOLINGO (with a minimum score of 120), and PTE (with a minimum score of 68). The page attributes that requirement to nobody. It sits under the double degree agreement with American University in Washington DC, and the sentence before it limits the track to students who are currently enrolled in the Master's Degree in International Studies. It is a condition of leaving after admission, not of getting in. Italian is the harder gate, and Roma Tre's documents do not agree on it. Four require it. The 2026/2027 master's admission notice, rectoral decree 572/2026, carries this clause 13 times, once per department, with no exception for English taught courses: Ai fini dell'immatricolazione ai corsi di studio dell'Universita degli Studi Roma Tre, la persona candidata deve essere in possesso di una certificazione linguistica di lingua italiana di livello B2, ovvero aver superato il test di conoscenza della lingua italiana organizzato dall'Ateneo. It adds, also 13 times: Non sono accettate certificazioni o test diversi da quelli espressamente indicati. Art. 7 comma 3 of the regulation makes the Italian test compulsory for every type of candidate except the exemption cases in the MUR interministerial provisions, and comma 4 makes it selective for non-EU citizens resident abroad, which is a Pakistani applicant. Roma Tre's Italian How to Apply guide reproduces that exemption list, and no item on it is an English taught degree; for master's entry only two items qualify, an Italian language diploma from the universities for foreigners at Perugia or Siena and a CLIQ Italian certificate at C1 or C2. The Portale dello Studente notice on the test says in its own English: In order to become a student at Roma Tre, you must have a B2-level Italian language certification or must have passed our Italian language proficiency test. One page reads the other way. The English page for non-EU citizens residing abroad says the test is mandatory and selective only for those enrolling on programmes taught in Italian, and that page was last updated 10 December 2024 and still prints 2024 test dates. The four current documents govern the 2026/2027 round. Roma Tre's own test costs 70.00 euro, is sat online, and has a written and an oral part that must both be passed. The page names one sitting for 2026, the first written session on 4 June 2026, with 150 places and registration closed by 15 May 2026.
