This is the largest realistic route into a funded Italian degree, and non-EU students apply on the same terms as everyone else. The published calls set no nationality quota, and first-year eligibility is economic only: it is assessed on your family's income and assets, not on your marks.

There is no national DSU application. A university in Bologna means ER.GO, in Turin EDISU Piemonte, in Rome DiSCo Lazio. Each call has its own dates, its own portal and its own document list, and a file prepared for one region does not transfer to another.

Can a Pakistani student get a DSU grant?
Yes, on the same terms as anyone else. The published regional calls set no nationality quota, and eligibility in the first year is economic: a family ISEE at or below €27,947.79 and an ISPE at or below €60,756.06 for 2025/26. The difficulty is in the paperwork, not in the rules.
Do I need good marks to get DSU?
Not in the first year. First-year eligibility is assessed on income and assets only. From the second year onwards the regional agencies add CFU credit thresholds, so the grant continues on the condition that you are passing exams at the expected rate.
Which agency do I apply to?
The one that covers the region your university is in. Bologna means ER.GO, Turin means EDISU Piemonte, Rome means DiSCo Lazio, Florence and Pisa mean DSU Toscana. There is no national application and a file prepared for one region does not transfer to another.
