Italian is not needed to enter this programme. Politecnico asks for proof of Italian at enrolment only for programmes taught entirely in Italian, or in Italian and English. It is needed before you graduate. The university states that an Italian language proficiency test is mandatory for international students admitted to all English language Laurea Magistrale programmes, and that you must certify the language before sitting the graduation exam. A student admitted without it carries an Italian OFA, an additional learning obligation, and has to clear it before graduating.”

One all inclusive contribution covers any programme and is scaled by ISEE, the Italian measure of household income and assets, from 157.04 euro at the bottom of the scale to 3,943.04 euro at the top. The figure here is the top, because the university states that an international student in the reserved non EU category, admitted with a first level qualification obtained abroad and holding no scholarship, pays the maximum whatever ISEE says.

The degree
About this degree.
A two year Laurea Magistrale taught entirely in English whose objective is to prepare a professional figure expert in materials and in the design of processes and manufactured goods. It suits graduates of industrial engineering or other material related degrees who want to specialise in surfaces, polymers, nanomaterials, microengineering or sustainability.
This Laurea Magistrale, equivalent to a Master of Science, is taught entirely in English to stimulate the student in acquiring greater familiarity with the terminology used internationally. The objective of the programme is to prepare a professional figure expert in materials and in the design of processes and manufactured goods.
The university's full description
Within the scope of the study plan a number of specific specialisations are foreseen: Surface Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology, Engineering Applications, Microengineering and Microtechnology, Sustainability Engineering.
The degree carries 120 credits over two years on the Milano Leonardo campus and is awarded by the School of Industrial and Information Engineering. The page states that students take at least 45 credits in core subjects, among them Solid State Physics, Chemistry Technology, Structure Mechanics, Metallurgy and Materials Science and Technology, a further 12 credits in additional technical subjects, at least one laboratory course worth 5 credits, and a thesis worth 20 credits.
The stated eligibility is a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering or in other material related Degrees, for example Applied Physics and Chemistry.
