Management Engineering

The university sets out five learning objectives for graduates. They should understand the challenges, functions and processes within business and industrial contexts and their effects on firms, the economy, the environment and society. They should identify trends, key technologies, methodologies and stakeholder needs within a specific context, described by the university as major based specialisation. They should design solutions by applying a scientific and engineering approach, combined with participatory methods, to address problems and opportunities in business, industrial and societal settings. They should develop new ideas and transformative solutions. And they should interact in a professional, responsible, inclusive, effective and constructive manner in the workplace.

Access is restricted. For the 2026/2027 academic year Politecnico di Milano published 900 places for this programme: 750 for Italian students, Community nationals and foreign nationals treated as equivalent to Community nationals, plus 150 places reserved for extra UE students. There is no entrance examination for the Master of Science. For applicants holding a foreign qualification, admission requires a first cycle degree that is valid and officially recognised in the country where it was obtained, an adequate academic background consistent with the chosen programme, and compliance with the required language prerequisites. Admission is then subject to the evaluation of the applicant's academic record by the Committee, which verifies curricular requirements, the quality of the study programme, and the mandatory documentation to be submitted.

Tuition is not a single sticker price. Politecnico di Milano calculates the annual amount from the study plan and from a means test called ISEE, an official Italian indicator of household economic position issued by INPS. For a standard study plan of between 46 and 74 ECTS and an ISEE of up to 22,000 euro the annual amount is 157.04 euro, and for a higher value ISEE it rises gradually to a maximum of 3,943.04 euro for 2026/2027. However, international students in the reserved non EU category who are admitted to a Master's programme with a first level qualification obtained abroad, and who hold no scholarship from Politecnico di Milano, another institution or the Diritto allo Studio, are required to pay the maximum amount. The university states that the maximum applies to this category even if they submit the ISEE or ISEEU parificato. So a Pakistani student without a scholarship should plan for the maximum figure, not the minimum one.

Applicants who studied in Pakistan face country specific rules. The minimum GPA required for the application is 3.3 out of 4, and the university states that the requirements including minimum GPA are strict and no exceptions will be considered. Politecnico di Milano does not accept 2+2 year bachelor degrees and accepts only 4 year continuous bachelor programmes, in line with the Higher Education Commission bachelor's degree policy. Transcripts must be originals with stamp and signature, not photocopies, certified either by the university Registrar's Office or by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, and the applicant must also supply a letter from the university stating the weighted average score.

Application windows as published on 11 September 2026: Engineering programmes run several calls per academic year. For academic year 2026/2027 the published Engineering rounds were: 1st call for the September 2026 intake, 1st October 2025 to 1st December 2025 (11.59pm CET); 2nd call for the September 2026 intake, 13th January to 26th February 2026 (11.59pm CET); an additional call for the September 2026 intake open only to EEA students and non EEA residents in Italy, 27th February to 31st March 2026 (11.59pm CET); and the general call for the February 2027 intake (2nd semester), 18th May to 18th June 2026 (11.59pm CEST). All of these had closed by 11 September 2026, and no dates for academic year 2027/2028 were published on the official deadlines page on that date. Application is allowed only once per semester, for up to two Master of Science programmes at the same time.

Academic year 2026/2027. Programme code 552, School of Industrial and Information Engineering, Milano Bovisa campus, taught in English, two years. Year 1 is the same for every student: three core courses of 10 CFU each, plus 30 CFU chosen from the groups on this page. Which group you choose from is decided by the Major you intend to take in year 2, and the plan prints the rule beside each group. The five year 1 group courses are listed above as electives. Year 2 is one Major out of 14, each with its own Project Based Lab and its own courses, so there is no single shared year 2 list and it is not transcribed here. The Majors are Analytics for Business, Business Strategy and Transformation, Complex Projects Business, Digital Business Innovation, Energy Management, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Global Sustainability and Impact, Industry 4.0, Industrial Management, Innovation Management, International Business, Management Engineering and Supply Chain Management. Final Thesis, 15 CFU, is printed on each Major page rather than on this base track page. Each Major page also prints that it is possible to choose courses totaling 20 to 26 cfu, giving a study plan total of 120 to 126 cfu, so a plan can run above 120 CFU.
