“The rule, verbatim: "All applicants need to provide a document attesting their English language knowledge." A medium of instruction letter replaces the test. The exemption clause, verbatim: "Students who can prove that English was the medium of instruction for their Bachelor's degree (for at least 3 years) are exempt from providing any English language certification. In this case, students must upload a document certified by their university confirming that at least 75% of the courses in their programme were taught in English." The university adds that it "does not accept certifications considered expired by the issuing institution". On timing, the certificate "is not compulsory to complete the online application process and to start your evaluation, but it is MANDATORY in order to obtain your admission letter, to be considered for merit-based scholarships, to obtain the Visa and to enrol at Politecnico di Milano", and it "does not influence the outcome of your evaluation and can be provided after the application deadline". Italian is not needed to enter this programme. Politecnico asks for proof of Italian at enrolment only for programmes taught entirely in Italian, or in Italian and English. It is needed before you graduate. The university states that an Italian language proficiency test is mandatory for international students admitted to all English language Laurea Magistrale programmes, and that you must certify the language before sitting the graduation exam. A student admitted without it carries an Italian OFA, an additional learning obligation, and has to clear it before graduating.”

Politecnico di Milano does not price degrees individually. One all inclusive contribution covers any programme and is scaled by ISEE, the Italian measure of household income and assets, from 157.04 euro at the bottom of the scale to 3,943.04 euro at the top. The figure here is the top, because the university states that an international student in the reserved non EU category, admitted with a first level qualification obtained abroad and holding no scholarship, pays the maximum whatever ISEE says.

These will be used to evaluate the applicant's curriculum and the adequacy of the knowledge and skills deemed essential for the successful completion of the programme. The Teaching Regulations for academic year 2026/27 add that for the academic year 2026 to 2027, 90 places are available for enrollment, and that a merit based ranking is published to determine the number of admitted students in relation to the places available.”

The degree
About this degree.
A two-year master's degree at the Piacenza campus covering landscape culture and history, ecology and agronomy, the reading of urban and rural soils, and the design of open spaces, parks and infrastructure. It suits architecture and planning graduates, and graduates of related fields such as agricultural and forestry sciences or environmental engineering, who want to practise as landscape architects.
The programme is taught in English at the Piacenza campus of Politecnico di Milano and runs for two years.
The university's full description
In the first year, students attend courses focusing on landscape culture and history, landscape representation, ecology and agronomy, analysis and interpretation of urban and rural soils and landscapes, and infrastructure design techniques. Two design studios, the Landscape and Infrastructure Design Studio and the Open Space System and Parks Design Studio, provide opportunities to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills.
In the second year, students attend courses focusing on environmental analysis and landscape mapping, conservation and management of historic gardens and landscapes, urban forestry and landscape planning. Two design studios, the Built Environment and Landscape Design Studio and the Frontiers of Landscape Design Studio, consolidate knowledge and skills. Students also attend optional courses and workshops.
In the second year, students additionally undertake a traineeship and develop the final dissertation or thesis required for graduation.
Admission requires a bachelor's degree in Architecture or in Territorial, Urban and Environmental Planning, or, subject to verification of curriculum requirements, in Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Industrial Design, Environmental and Natural Sciences and Technologies, Geography, Cultural Heritage, or Fine Arts, Performing Arts and Fashion. Applicants holding a non Italian qualification must hold a minimum three year bachelor's degree in Landscape architecture, Architecture or Urban Planning from a non Italian university.
