The money
What you pay, and what you must prove you have.
Two different things, kept apart on purpose: a bill you pay, and a balance a visa officer needs to see that never gets spent.
What you pay
Tuition, per year
€3,943.04
about PKR 1,267,000
Why this figure, and not a lower one
Italian state fees usually scale with an assessed household indicator. Where the call states one figure it appears above; where it states a scale, this page says so rather than averaging it.
Politecnico di Milano does not price degrees individually. One all inclusive contribution covers any programme and is scaled by ISEE, the Italian measure of household income and assets, from 157.04 euro at the bottom of the scale to 3,943.04 euro at the top. The figure here is the top, because the university states that an international student in the reserved non EU category, admitted with a first level qualification obtained abroad and holding no scholarship, pays the maximum whatever ISEE says.

Paid to the university when you submit. Non-refundable, and separate from anything the visa itself costs.
What you must prove you have
Funds you must show, per year
€10,179.85
Health cover, minimum
€30,000
How these two are decided
Funds you must show: in your own account, or evidenced by a sponsor or an award. Cash is refused.
Health cover: emergency treatment and repatriation, across the Schengen area, for as long as the visa lasts.

Who may hold the money, and the refusal of cash, are the embassy’s own rules for a study visa rather than the university’s.

Before any of it counts
Start the legalisation chain first
A degree awarded outside Europe has to be attested and legalised before an Italian university reads it. That chain is decided by the country you apply from, and no office on it publishes a turnaround.

The degree
About this degree.
A three year Laurea in Italian that combines a solid engineering background with in depth training in applied physics, from condensed matter and photonics to micro and nanofabrication. It suits students who like the experimental side of basic science and want to work where new technologies are created.
The Study Programme in Physics Engineering trains professionals with a solid engineering background and in-depth training in the most innovative areas of applied physics.
The university's full description
Transforming scientific knowledge into new technology and transferring innovation into the production system is a pressing need for many companies. To meet this need, this program prepares engineers with a solid foundation and, at the same time, in-depth skills in condensed matter physics, photonics, and physics-based technologies, enabling them to operate in environments characterized by a high level of technological innovation. This approach is particularly suited to students who have a predilection for basic subjects, appreciate their experimental side, and are interested in high-tech applications.
The program trains innovation engineers who use their solid physics and engineering background to create new and useful technologies: from innovative materials to lasers, from sensors to energy and research instruments. After graduation, they work where the ideas of the future are born, in technology companies, research laboratories, and innovation centers, combining theory, experimentation, and real-world applications.
The Study Program in Ingegneria Fisica offers a solid foundation in physics, mathematics, chemistry, and computer science, complemented by significant engineering training in electronics, mechanics, automation, and energy. The program lasts three years (180 university credits). The first year focuses on the study and understanding of basic scientific and engineering principles (mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, and telecommunications). The second year consolidates quantitative and experimental training, deepening the knowledge of engineering disciplines (particularly electronics, mechanics, automation, and energy) and introducing topics in modern physics (Introduction to Quantum Physics). The third year explores the core areas of the program, such as the microscopic structure of matter, materials properties, and the use of light for their characterization. Enabling technologies such as photonics, micro- and nanofabrication, electron microscopy, and optical system design are introduced, and theoretical-computational and laboratory skills are strengthened.
The third-year program includes a preparatory track, designed for those intending to continue their studies with a master's degree, and an applied track, which includes a company internship. Learning is enhanced by experimental laboratories that allow students to address real-world problems and apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired. The final exam for students who have chosen the preparatory program can be completed through hands-on participation in an experimental activity at one of the department's research laboratories (design laboratory).
Where it leads
As the university states it on its own page. Not a placement rate and not a promise.
- Basic and applied research at universities and public and private research institutions, both nationally and internationally
- Industrial research and development in high-tech sectors, where physical principles are translated into industrial products and applications
- Strategic and technological consulting in companies operating in innovation and the development of new technologies
- Emerging sectors of the knowledge economy, with key roles in the high-tech industry
- Technological fields such as photonics, semiconductor and advanced materials (e.g., superconductors), telecommunications, biomedical applications, energy production, and environmental sustainability
- Junior Engineer, upon passing the State Examination and registering with the Professional Association of Engineers
One programme, one university, once a year.
That is what Universitaly allows. Three questions tell you where you stand before you spend that choice: the degree level, what the visa wants in the bank, and how much calendar is left.
