Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics

Access is restricted. The Italian term on the call is accesso programmato, set under Law 264 of 2 August 1999. For 2026-2027 the call opens 19 places for EU and equated applicants and 6 places for non-EU applicants living abroad. Entry is by a national admission test. Sapienza's own presentation page calls it an IMAT admission test. The test is 60 multiple choice questions in 100 minutes. It covers reading and knowledge acquired in study, logical reasoning, biology, chemistry, and physics and mathematics. A correct answer scores 1.5 points. A blank answer scores zero. A wrong answer loses 0.4 points.

The call sets no minimum school grade. It sets a minimum test score instead. An Italian, EU or equated applicant enters the ranking with 20 points or more. A non-EU applicant living abroad enters the ranking with any score above zero. A low score in Biology or Chemistry triggers an additional learning requirement, called an OFA, which must be cleared inside the first year.

English proof works differently here than on Sapienza's other English taught degrees. This call sets no minimum IELTS or TOEFL score for entry. A certificate is used only to separate two candidates who scored the same. Annex 1 lists the recognised certificates from level B2 upward. Annex 1 also states that a candidate who attended a school taught in English for at least one school year is automatically recognised as holding a language certificate. That clause carries no country limit, so it is open to a Pakistani applicant.

Teaching runs in the Department of Scienze Odontostomatologiche e Maxillo-Facciali, which has classrooms, laboratories and a simulation room. Clinical teaching runs in the Dental Clinic and the George Eastman Hospital, part of the Head-Neck Department at Policlinico Umberto I. The sixth year is almost entirely clinical and problem solving work. Sapienza states that the final exam qualifies the graduate to practise dentistry. It also states the qualification is recognised between EU countries under Directives 2005/36/EC and 2013/55/EU.

Tuition is set by faculty group. The Faculty of Medicina e Odontoiatria sits in Sapienza's second contribution group, with a published maximum of 2,924 euro a year, paid in three instalments and reduced against an ISEE income certificate. A student who declares income outside Italy cannot use the ISEE scale. That student pays a fixed amount by country band. Pakistan is named in Band A at 300 euro a year. Sapienza adds 16 euro stamp duty and the regional tax of 140 euro to the first instalment, which totals 456 euro for a first year.

Practical points for a Pakistani applicant. Pakistan is on the list of countries where the admission test is held. The call itself is published only in Italian, even under the English download link. A study visa requires a Universitaly pre-application, and that step closed on 30 June 2026 for this cycle.
