“The exact clause on Sapienza's Italian catalogue page for 33513 is "Modalità di accesso: Verifica dei requisiti e della preparazione personale". The English version of the same page prints no access line at all. Sapienza publishes no numerus clausus of its own for this degree, because entry is decided by the EMAI consortium. The consortium call states the gate: "Pre-screening phase: the received applications are checked for administrative validation. Pre-selection: a first analysis will be performed to validate the minimum requirements. Selection Ranking: all eligible candidates will be ranked by the EMAI Academic Programme Committee", then "Interviews of shortlisted candidates: interviews will last 10-15 minutes and will be conducted online", then "Final selection: students will be selected according to the ranking and the outcomes of the interviews", and "A waiting list will be created to be used in case one or more students withdraw." Places are capped and counted: for the 2026 to 2028 cohort the committee expected to select approximately 19 students with full Erasmus Mundus Scholarships and 18 students who will be full fee-waivers. It is restricted in substance, but it is not the Italian accesso programmato route and there is no numbered national quota.”

A two year joint master's degree in artificial intelligence taught in English, run by Sapienza with Pompeu Fabra, Radboud and Ljubljana as the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Artificial Intelligence. It suits graduates in computing, engineering, physics, mathematics or statistics who want the Rome specialisation in robotics and AI.
Artificial Intelligence is the Sapienza name for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Artificial Intelligence, known as EMAI. Sapienza lists it as programme code 33513, degree class LM-32, in the Faculty of Ingegneria dell'informazione, informatica e statistica. The teaching department is INGEGNERIA INFORMATICA, AUTOMATICA E GESTIONALE "ANTONIO RUBERTI". The language of instruction is English. The lesson mode is conventional and in person. The site is Roma. The Italian catalogue records the degree as a joint title shared by Italy, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain.
The university's full description
The degree runs for two years and carries 120 credits across four semesters. Every student spends the first semester at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. The second semester is taken at one of the other three partner universities. Sapienza in Rome is the robotics track. Radboud University in Nijmegen is the cybersecurity track. The University of Ljubljana is the data science track. In the second year a student picks a partner university and writes a master's thesis there, either in an academic research group or in an industrial setting offered by an affiliated partner. Students also attend a summer school in London organised by the Centre for Artificial Intelligence at University College London, and a three day Spring Event hosted in turn by a partner university.
The first semester is the same for everyone. Its four units are Autonomous Systems, Symbolic Reasoning, Introduction to machine learning and reinforcement learning, and Natural Language Interaction. The Sapienza second semester list includes Artificial Intelligence, Human-Robot Interaction, VISION AND PERCEPTION, INTERACTIVE GRAPHICS, Machine Learning in Practice, Natural Language Processing and Big Data. The second year list includes Planning and Reasoning, Probabilistic Graphical Models, Advanced Machine Learning, Knowledge Representation and Semantic Technologies, Robotics I, ROBOTICS II and MEDICAL ROBOTICS. The final exam carries 30 credits. Every unit name here is copied from the Sapienza study plan exactly as that page prints it, including its capitalisation.
Admission is not run by Sapienza. The Sapienza course page sends applicants to the consortium call held by Pompeu Fabra University. This degree does not appear in Sapienza's own call for English taught programmes. It is also absent from Sapienza's Move In pre-selection sheet, so the Move In application fee of 30 euro and the Move In per programme score table do not apply to it. The consortium sets the English scores, the document list, the fee and the dates.
The consortium selects on a ranking. Applications are first screened for administrative validity, then checked against the minimum requirements, then ranked on academic record, motivation, practical and professional experience, and inclusiveness. Shortlisted candidates are interviewed online for 10 to 15 minutes. A waiting list is kept. For the 2026 to 2028 cohort the committee planned to select about 19 students with full Erasmus Mundus Scholarships and about 18 students with full tuition fee waivers. Enrolment takes place in September each year.

Is this the same degree as Sapienza's MSc Artificial Intelligence and Robotics?
No. They are two different Sapienza degrees. This one is called Artificial Intelligence, programme code 33513, and it is the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master run with three partner universities. Artificial Intelligence and Robotics is programme code 33514 and is a Sapienza only degree with its own separate admission route.
Do I apply through Sapienza?
No. The Sapienza course page states that the call for applications is held by the consortium and links to the EMAI site at Pompeu Fabra University. This programme is not in Sapienza's call for English taught programmes and is not in the Sapienza Move In pre-selection list.
Can a Pakistani applicant use a medium of instruction letter instead of a test?
