The Laurea Magistrale in Astrophysics and Cosmology is a two year second cycle degree at Sapienza Università di Roma. Its programme code is 33607. Its degree class is LM-58, Scienze dell'Universo. The published study plan for 2026/2027 sets a compulsory core in the first year. It lists Astrophysical Processes and Plasmas at 6 CFU, GENERAL RELATIVITY at 6 CFU, Stellar Astrophysics at 6 CFU, Astrophysics Laboratory at 12 CFU split into Astrophysics Laboratory I and Astrophysics Laboratory II, and PHYSICAL COSMOLOGY at 6 CFU. It also lists Further Linguistic Knowledge at 4 CFU and free choice slots. The second year is dominated by THESIS PROJECT at 38 CFU.
The rest of the plan is elective groups. The modules printed there are THEORETICAL ASTROPHYSICS, Astronomical Optics, Stellar Systems Dynamics, GRAVITATIONAL WAVES COMPACT STARS AND BLACK HOLES, OBSERVATIONAL COSMOLOGY, Theoretical Cosmology, Chemical evolution of the universe, High Energy Astrophysics, PLANETS AND EXOPLANETS, Extragalactic Astrophysics, Multimessanger and Astroparticle Physics, EXPERIMENTAL GRAVITATION, METHODS OF SPACE ASTROPHYSICS, COMPUTING METHODS FOR ASTROPHYSICS, Topics in quantum mechanics and field theory, and Introduction to Quantum Field Theory. Admission is not capped. The catalogue states that no programmed number applies. Instead the university checks your curricular requirements and then your personal preparation. The call for applications for 2026/2027 asks for a three year degree and sets credit floors by Italian subject sector. The separate international admission requirements sheet asks for a BSc in Physics, Astronomy, Astrophysics or a similar subject, a CV, a motivational letter, and a minimum GPA of 80 out of 100.
English is checked at CEFR B2. The programme's own sheet accepts IELTS 5.5 or higher, TOEFL iBT 80 or higher, Cambridge English B2 First or higher, and Trinity College London Integrated Skills in English ISE II or higher. The waiver for an English taught degree is limited by country. It covers the EU, EEA and Schengen area plus Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. Pakistan is not on that list, so an English medium Pakistani degree does not waive the requirement here.
There is a second route, and it is specific to this programme. A notice published on the course page on 24 July 2026 tells every applicant to fill in a dedicated Google Form when they submit the entry requirements check. Through that form you either upload a B2 certificate to be exempted from the interview, or you register for an English language proficiency assessment interview. The call for applications confirms it. Applicants who meet the academic requirements but have no certificate are assessed by the committee through interview. So a certificate is not the only way in.
Money comes in two parts. Sapienza charges a 30 euro application fee for each pre-selection application on MoveIn, with a maximum of two applications per student per year and no waiver. The programme's own call separately asks for a 10 euro payment on Infostud to open the entry requirements check, using code 33607. Tuition for students who declare income abroad is a fixed amount set by country band. Sapienza lists Pakistan in Fascia A, which is 300 euro for the year.
