Why this figure, and not a lower one

Italian state fees usually scale with an assessed household indicator. Where the call states one figure it appears above; where it states a scale, this page says so rather than averaging it.

Entry requirements

What this call asks of you.

The admission model first, because it is the one that closes a degree for a year. Everything below it is quoted from the university's call for applications for this cycle, in its order.

  • How it admits

    Open access

    accesso libero

    The university's own wording
“The course catalogue prints the access type for this degree as "Entrance test to verify knowledge". The Rector's Decree of 22 June 2026 orders "the publication of the call for applications for admission to three-year degree programmes for the 2026-2027 academic year, subject to an entrance examination to assess knowledge in: ... Economics and Finance (Degree Class L-33)". The call names no number of places and publishes no ranking list. Enrolment is completed by paying the first instalment between 1 September and 5 November 2026. A score below the threshold does not refuse entry: "You must complete the Further Required Courses (OFA) if you have obtained a score lower than ... 960/1600 in the SAT (only for the two English-taught programmes)". That is accesso libero with a compulsory knowledge check, not accesso programmato. One separate gate applies to non-EU candidates resident abroad who want the English curriculum: they need "a pre-acceptance letter ... following a successful outcome of the pre-selection process", and the admission requirements document states that "Possession of the academic and language requirements indicated in this document is NOT a guarantee of admission; each application is assessed individually".”
  • Entrance tests

    SATTOLC-EThe university's own test

What the call asks for

  1. Upper secondary school diploma corresponding to at least 12 years of schooling, or 11 years plus a Foundation Year or one year of higher education.

  2. Minimum GPA of 80 out of 100 for the MoveIn pre-selection.

  3. For the English curriculum, one of two tests: CEnT-S (CISIA English Test-Sciences) with an overall converted score higher than zero, or SAT (College Board) 960 or higher acquired from 1 January 2024.

  4. For the Italian curricula, the TOLC-E or the CEnT-S taken at Sapienza or any CISIA university. The TOLC-E is valid from January 2025 and the CEnT-S from November 2025.

  5. The English TOLC is no longer accepted for this degree.

  6. English at CEFR level B2: IELTS 5.5 or higher, TOEFL iBT 80 or higher, Cambridge English B2 First or higher, or Trinity College London ISE II or higher.

  7. A solid mathematical background. The admission document states that preference is given to students who have completed scientific or quantitatively oriented high school studies.

  8. Strong logical reasoning, the ability to comprehend complex written and spoken texts, and clear written communication.

  9. Non-EU candidates resident abroad need a pre-acceptance letter from the MoveIn pre-selection, plus pre-enrolment on Universitaly for the study visa.

  10. Without an English certificate you may still enrol, but only on a curriculum taught in Italian.

Before any of it counts

Start the legalisation chain first

A degree awarded outside Europe has to be attested and legalised before an Italian university reads it. That chain is decided by the country you apply from, and no office on it publishes a turnaround.

The chain, step by step, from Pakistan

The degree

About this degree.

A three year bachelor in economics, financial markets, statistics and econometrics, taught at Sapienza's Faculty of Economics in Rome. One of the four curricula runs entirely in English, and the admission document asks for a strong mathematical background and a school mark of 80 out of 100.

Sapienza teaches this degree at its Faculty of Economics in Rome. It runs for three years and sits in Italian degree class L-33. Lessons are in person. The programme covers how economic and financial markets work, how to read and process statistical data, how to forecast economic and financial variables, and how to judge the effects of public policy.

The university's full description

The degree offers four curricula. One is taught in English and is called Economics and Finance. The other three are taught in Italian: International Economics and Cooperation, Environmental, Resource, and Sustainable Development Economics, and Economics and Finance. The first three semesters are shared. They cover economics, business, law, mathematics and statistics. Each curriculum then adds its own advanced modules. Some teaching is done through laboratory sessions. The programme ends with a final exam.

The English curriculum opens with Business Administration, MICROECONOMICS and CALCULUS AND LINEAR ALGEBRA. The second semester of year one adds Financial Reporting, MACROECONOMICS, Introduction to Private Law and Data Analysis for Economics and Business, which is taught in R. Year two carries ECONOMIC POLICY, Statistics and Probability, Financial Markets and Institutions, ECONOMIC HISTORY, Financial Mathematics, Statistical Inference, Public Economics and Computer Tools for Economic and Business Analysis. Year three carries ECONOMETRICS, International Trade and Finance, INTERNATIONAL LAW, Sustainability Lab and FINAL EXAM. Year three also holds 12 credits of elective activities and an optional economics group, whose modules include Intermediate Microeconomics, Monetary and Financial Policy, Labour Economics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, Intermediate Public Economics and Banking and Finance.

Admission runs on an entrance test that checks your knowledge. The call sets no number of places and no ranking list. If you want the English curriculum you take the CEnT-S, which is the CISIA English Test for Sciences, or the SAT General Test. The English TOLC is no longer accepted for this degree. For the Italian curricula the test is the TOLC-E or the CEnT-S. A low score does not refuse you a place. It assigns Further Required Courses, called OFA, which you must clear inside your first year.

The minimum mark for the international pre-selection is 80 out of 100. English must be at CEFR level B2. Sapienza accepts IELTS 5.5 or higher, TOEFL iBT 80 or higher, Cambridge English B2 First or higher, and Trinity College London ISE II or higher. Duolingo is not accepted. If you have no English certificate you may still enrol, but on a curriculum taught in Italian.

Students who need a study visa apply first through the MoveIn pre-selection platform and then enrol through Infostud. Sapienza states that it works with no agency, and that a pre-acceptance letter comes only through MoveIn.

Asked about this programme

The questions this one gets.

Is Duolingo accepted for this degree?

No. The accepted list for this programme is IELTS 5.5 or higher, TOEFL iBT 80 or higher, Cambridge English B2 First or higher, and Trinity College London ISE II or higher.

I studied in English in Pakistan. Is my English requirement waived?

Not on medium of instruction alone. Sapienza waives the requirement for an English taught diploma from the EU, EEA, Schengen, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States. Pakistan is not on that list. A separate waiver covers an International Baccalaureate, a GCSE or a comparable diploma, and that line names no country at all.

Which entrance test do I take for the English curriculum?

The CEnT-S, which is the CISIA English Test for Sciences, or the SAT General Test with 960 or higher. The English TOLC is no longer accepted.

What happens if my entrance test score is low?

You can still enrol. A SAT below 960 out of 1600 assigns Further Required Courses, called OFA. You clear them by passing the Calculus and Linear Algebra exam within your first year, or by passing the assessment after the Faculty's Moodle remedial course. If you do not clear the OFA you must repeat the first year.

What does a year cost?

Students with tax residence abroad pay a flat yearly fee set by country band: 300 euro, 700 euro or 1500 euro. A regional tax of 140 euro and a stamp duty of 16 euro are added. Students with Italian tax residence pay on an ISEE scale instead.

Is the whole degree taught in English?

No. One of the four curricula is taught in English. The other three are taught in Italian.

How many programmes can I apply to?

Two per academic year on the MoveIn pre-selection platform. Each application costs 30 euro.

One programme, one university, once a year.

That is what Universitaly allows. Three questions tell you where you stand before you spend that choice: the degree level, what the visa wants in the bank, and how much calendar is left.
