A two-year Master of Science taught entirely in English in the restoration of archaeological, monumental and modern heritage, run by the Department of Architecture at Roma Tre University in central Rome. It suits architecture graduates who want design studio work on historic buildings, digital survey and structural rehabilitation, and who intend to practise as heritage restoration specialists.
Master of Science - Restoration is the English-taught curriculum inside the Italian degree Architettura - Restauro (LM-4) at Roma Tre University. It runs for two years and carries 120 ECTS. Around the studios sit courses in history of architecture, survey and 3D modelling, mechanics of historical structures, urban planning, cultural heritage law, construction technologies in the built heritage, and lighting for cultural heritage. Students take part in on-site inspections and field lessons. The final assessment is a portfolio, plus an original design project or a written thesis, discussed before a committee.
Access is restricted. The Italian admission notice lists the department's master's courses under accesso programmato and sets 60 places for Architettura - Restauro (LM-4). The department page states the same figure in English: "The program has 60 places". If applications exceed the places, the department forms a merit ranking based on the academic record.
