The degree has four curricula. They are European History, Medioevo Europeo, Public History. Divulgazione e didattica della storia, and Storia e culture globali. The enrolment notice for 2026/2027 states that only the international European History curriculum is delivered in English. A student picks one curriculum before filing a study plan.

European History is run with a consortium of European universities. Semester one of year one is at Tor Vergata. Semester two of year one is at Tor Vergata or at a partner university, for at least 30 ECTS. Semester one of year two is at a partner university, for at least 30 ECTS. The last semester is back at Tor Vergata, where the dissertation is written in English and co-supervised by one professor from each university. A student who passes exams at two different partner universities for a total of 120 ECTS receives a double degree issued by Tor Vergata and by the host university. Partner universities listed on the programme page include Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Universität Wien, Universitetet i Oslo, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Universidad Complutense de Madrid and University College Dublin.

The 2026-2027 teaching list carries 19 course units. Two are marked as taught in English: GLOBAL HISTORY A and MEDIEVAL HISTORY. Three units carry 12 CFU and are split into two modules each: STORIA MEDIEVALE LM (CORSO AVANZATO), STORIA MODERNA LM (CORSO AVANZATO) and STORIA CONTEMPORANEA LM (CORSO AVANZATO). The rest carry 6 CFU. The European History manifesto sets the shape of the 120 CFU. STORIA CONTEMPORANEA DEI PAESI ARABI LM A at 6 CFU is compulsory. A general and European history group carries 24 CFU. An economic history group carries 6 CFU. A group on historical, social and territorial subjects carries 12 CFU. A group of related or supplementary activities carries 30 CFU. Free choice carries 12 CFU. A placement, laboratory or seminar of 150 hours carries 6 CFU. The final dissertation carries 24 CFU. One CFU at this Macroarea means 5 hours of class plus 20 hours of personal study or other work.

Access is open. The course page prints the access type as accesso libero with a check of curricular requirements and of personal preparation. There is no entrance examination and no cap on places. Every applicant files a curricular requirements application on the Delphi portal, pays 30 euro, and then attends an interview with the programme commission. The interview checks basic knowledge of historical subjects and of source handling, basic computing and online communication skills, and command of at least one European Union language other than Italian at B2. The B2 level is shown either by a certificate or at the interview itself. The commission may still admit a strong graduate from a less closely matched degree, and will then set the extra credits to be earned.

The European History page states that applicants are expected to be near fluent in English at C1 of the CEFR and to have a good knowledge of a second language. It lists an English language certificate and a Level B2 Italian language certificate among the documents an applicant with a foreign degree uploads. A non-EU applicant living abroad who needs a study visa must hold a B2 Italian certificate or pass the Italian language test set by the university, and must upload that proof to Universitaly during pre-enrolment. The Italian test is waived for holders of a B2 or higher Italian certificate from Università per Stranieri di Perugia, Università per Stranieri di Siena, Università Roma Tre, Società Dante Alighieri or an Italian Cultural Institute abroad, or for a TEST ITALIANO L2 CISIA score of at least 61 out of 72.

Enrolment starts with a first instalment of 156 euro. That is 140 euro of Lazio regional student tax plus 16 euro of stamp duty. The programme is not named in any of the higher contribution classes in the Student Handbook for 2026/2027, so it sits in contribution class 1, the residual class for master's degrees not listed elsewhere. Class 1 runs from 0 euro to a maximum of 2,270 euro under ordinary taxation, from 200 euro to a maximum of 2,576 euro under higher taxation, and from 450 euro to a maximum of 2,932 euro under maximum taxation. The amount depends on the household ISEE-Università, on credits earned and on the year of enrolment. The European History page gives the range as 500 to 2500 euro per year. A graduate with a final mark of 110/110 can ask for a 10 per cent cut on the second and third instalments of the first year.

The curricular requirements application for 2026/2027 opens in five windows: 5 to 15 June 2026, 1 to 15 September 2026, 15 to 31 October 2026, 15 December 2026 to 15 January 2027, and 15 to 28 February 2027. The interview dates published for this programme are 1 July 2026, 23 September 2026, 10 November 2026, 25 January 2027 and 10 March 2027, in building B, floor 4, room 42, with a Microsoft Teams option. A non-EU applicant living abroad who needs a visa can use the June window only, had to file Universitaly pre-enrolment by 31 July 2026, and must complete enrolment in person at the International Students Office by 20 December 2026. For the English taught European History curriculum there is a separate online Application-Assessment run in English, and the programme page states that the 2026-27 call closed on 29 May 2026.
