A two year master's degree in management engineering at Tor Vergata's School of Engineering, in Italian degree class LM-31, split into eight tracks of which one runs entirely in English. It suits an engineering graduate who wants to plan, cost and run production, logistics, digital and telecommunications systems rather than design the hardware.
Management Engineering is a two year master's degree at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. It belongs to Italian degree class LM-31 under Ministerial Decree No 270 of 2004. It is run by the School of Engineering with the Department of Enterprise Engineering Mario Lucertini. The programme page gives the course code as AC1. The official study plan sets the degree at 120 credits.
The university's full description
The degree trains engineers to plan, run and improve organised systems. The shared core covers business organisations, systems that produce goods and services, and economic and financial systems. Specialist courses then cover enterprise systems, production systems, logistics and transport systems, digital governance and technology systems, and telecommunications systems. The coordinator is Prof. Massimiliano Caramia.
The official study plan for 2025/2026 divides the degree into eight tracks. Seven are taught in Italian. One, printed in the study plan as Technology and New Frontier Management, is taught entirely in English. Its compulsory modules are Project and Technology Innovation Management, Management of Innovation Technology, Statistical Methods for Big Data Management, Hybrid participation processes for innovation technologies, AI Applications in Manufacturing, Smart Factories, Production Management, Life Cycle Assessment, Methods and Tools for Sustainability, Digital Twin, and Digitalization and Circular Production. Students also take elective courses, further training activities and a final thesis.
Admission is open, with a check on your previous studies. Applicants who did not take the matching Tor Vergata bachelor's degree must hold set numbers of credits in named Italian subject areas. Every applicant goes through a check of personal preparation. That check is a review of your transcript, with attention to your final mark and your marks in the subject areas ING-IND/35, MAT/09 and ING-IND/17. You are exempt with a weighted average of at least 24,5 out of 30 if you finished the bachelor's degree within four academic years of starting it, otherwise the mark needed is 25,0 out of 30. An applicant judged not suitable sits an oral interview on at most two subjects where the transcript is weakest. The department holds at most three admission sessions per academic year, after the October, February and April graduation sessions.
Teaching runs in two semesters of fifteen weeks. In 2025/2026 the first semester ran from 22 September 2025 to 17 January 2026, and the second from 2 March 2026 to 13 June 2026. The admission page states that you may enrol after the academic year has started, as long as there is still time to attend classes.
Fees depend on whether you declare your family income. A non-EU student whose family income is earned abroad may choose not to declare it and pay a flat yearly contribution of 1,000 euro. Students from the countries named as developing in Italian ministerial decree 62 of 6 May 2020 pay 500 euro. A regional tax and stamp duty of 156 euro are added on top. A student who declares income through the ISEE Parificato pays from 156 euro up to the maximum taxation. This degree is not on the university's list of courses charged the higher 2,500 euro flat contribution.

Is the whole degree taught in English?
The university course page lists the language as English. The official study plan says the degree is bilingual, Italian and English, and that one of its eight tracks is taught entirely in English. The Engineering faculty's own list of English taught courses does not name this degree at all. Ask the coordinator which modules run in English in the year you start.
Do I need IELTS or TOEFL?
The programme publishes no test score. It asks for knowledge of a European Union language other than Italian at level B2 or above. You may meet the requirement as late as the end of your first semester. The university language centre, the Centro Linguistico di Ateneo, runs the level tests and recognises certificates.
Is there an entrance exam?
