Unverified. Not yet verified. A person has not opened the source for this cycle. Read off the institution own programme page on 13 September 2026 by a single research pass. It has NOT been independently re-checked: the verification stage of that run was stopped before it reached this record, so the record renders as unverified rather than claiming a receipt it does not have. The English requirement is held at unverified unless a per programme source URL was found. Figures here are a starting point for a reader, not a checked claim. Open questions: 1) No minimum IELTS or TOEFL score is published on any uniroma2.it page for this degree. The consortium site master-cne.eu, which the Tor Vergata application page names as the location of the application form, states minimum requirements of IELTS 6,2 or TOEFL iBT 91. That is off the institution's own domain, so it is not recorded in englishDetail. Confirm with the coordinator at divona@uniroma2.it before quoting a score. 2) No minimum grade is published on any uniroma2.it page, so minGpaPercent is left empty. master-cne.eu states that a GPA of at least 75 percent of the scale maximum is required. Not confirmed on the institution's own domain. 3) No application deadline is published for the open cycle. The Tor Vergata application page reads 'Deadline for Applications 2027 will be READY SOON'. master-cne.eu states that the selection committee is held in June, which is off domain and unconfirmed. 4) The specific curricular requirements for this degree live in its didactic regulation. The 2025/2026 Engineering enrolment notice links the regulations for ten other degrees but not for this one, and no regulation page for it was found on uniroma2.it. 5) intakeMonths is set to September from the Rome teaching calendar, which ran from 29 September 2025 to 17 January 2026, and from the practical information guide, which sets a 22 September appointment to complete enrolment. Year 1 begins at Aix Marseille University and Tor Vergata publishes no start date for it. 6) The 30 euro Delphi evaluation contribution in the 2025/2026 Engineering notice belongs to the standard assessment procedure. That notice says English taught degrees use a different procedure, so it is not clear whether this degree charges it. applicationFeeEur is left empty rather than guessed. 7) The most recent Engineering enrolment notice attached to the course page is for a.y. 2025/2026, dated 23 May 2025. Before any of it counts

A degree awarded outside Europe has to be attested and legalised before an Italian university reads it. That chain is decided by the country you apply from, and no office on it publishes a turnaround.

The degree

About this degree.

Chemistry for Nano-Engineering is a two year, English taught joint master's degree in class LM-71, run by the University of Rome Tor Vergata with Aix Marseille University in France and Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in Poland. It suits chemistry, materials or engineering graduates who want to synthesise, measure and computationally model nano-materials, and who are willing to move country each semester.

Chemistry for Nano-Engineering is a two year master's degree taught in English. The University of Rome Tor Vergata runs it with Aix Marseille University in France and Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in Poland. The three universities award one joint master's degree diploma at the end. Tor Vergata records it under degree class LM-71, course code T15, in the Department of Industrial Engineering. The programme is 4 semesters and 120 ECTS.

The university's full description

Students move between the three countries. Semester 1 is in Marseille and carries 30 ECTS. Semester 2 is in Wroclaw and carries 30 ECTS. Semester 3 is in Rome and carries 30 ECTS. Semester 4 is the master thesis project and carries 30 ECTS. Students may pick a thesis subject offered by a partner university, an associated partner or an industry partner. Tor Vergata describes the French semester as the fundamentals of chemistry and modelling, the Polish semester as specialisation in nano-engineering, and the Roman semester as the application of complex nano-engineering systems.

The 2025/2026 study plan sets the modules. Year 1 semester 1 is NANO-ELECTROCHEMISTRY at 3 CFU, SOLID STATE CHEMISTRY AND NANO-MATERIALS at 7 CFU, ORGANIC CHEMISTRY OF NANO-MATERIALS at 3 CFU, BASIC QUANTUM CHEMISTRY MODELING at 3 CFU, COMPUTATIONAL MODELING OF NANO-SYSTEMS at 7 CFU, THERMODYNAMICS OF MATERIALS, INTERACTIONS AND SURFACE FORCES at 3 CFU, NANO-ENGINEERING SEMINAR + PROJECT 1 at 2 CFU and ENGLISH LANGUAGE LABORATORY 1 at 2 CFU. Year 1 semester 2 is STRUCTURE AND CRYSTALLOGRAPHY OF SOLIDS at 3 CFU, SYNTHESIS AND FABRICATION OF NANO-ENGINEERING SYSTEMS at 3 CFU, FABRICATION OF SMART POLYMERS at 3 CFU, ENGINEERING OF NANO-MACHINES at 2 CFU, BIO-PHOTONICS at 2 CFU, BIOMATERIALS - BIOMEDICAL DEVICES at 3 CFU, NANOSTRUCTURES IN INDUSTRIAL AND NUMERICAL APPLICATIONS at 5 CFU, ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT at 5 CFU and 4 CFU of optional courses.

Year 2 semester 1 is the Rome semester. It is CHARACTERIZATION OF NANO-ENGINEERING SYSTEMS at 6 CFU, NANOSCALE SYNTHESIS METHODS at 5 CFU, MACROMOLECULAR AND SUPRAMOLECULAR CHEMISTRY at 5 CFU, NANOSCALE ENERGY TECHNOLOGY, NANO-SENSORS AND MICRO-FLUIDICS at 5 CFU, and 4 CFU of optional courses. The plan then asks for two optional exams worth 5 CFU, under Option A "Chemistry" or Option B "Modelling". Option A is STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL PROPERTIES OF BIOPOLYMERS and NMR OF NANO-SYSTEMS. Option B is NANOSCALE STRUCTURAL TRANSFORMATIONS AND KINETICS and PROBABILITY AND STATISTICAL METHODS FOR MODELLING ENGINEERS. Year 2 semester 2 is the FINAL EXAM at 30 CFU. Free choice courses listed in the plan are NANO-ENGINEERING SEMINAR + PROJECT 2, ENGLISH LANGUAGE LABORATORY 2, NANO-ENGINEERING SEMINAR + PROJECT 3 and ENGLISH LANGUAGE LABORATORY 3, each at 2 CFU.

Access is open. The English course page states the access type as "Open with curriculum evaluation". The Italian course page states "Accesso libero con verifica di requisiti e preparazione in ingresso". The 2025/2026 enrolment notice for Engineering master's degrees, Decreto n. 1813/2025, lists this degree under courses with open access. No entrance examination is published for it. That notice also states that English taught master's degrees follow a separate assessment procedure published on the programme's own pages, not the standard Delphi route used by the Italian taught degrees.

Tuition follows the Tor Vergata contribution bands. The Student Handbook for 2026/2027 does not name this degree in any of the higher bands, so contribution class 1 applies, which covers every degree not listed elsewhere. Under ordinary taxation, which applies to a student enrolling for the first time, contribution class 1 runs from 0 up to a maximum of 2,270 euro a year. The regional tax and stamp duty of 156 euro is due in every case. A student who files an ISEE-Universita may pay less than the maximum, and a full exemption applies below an ISEE-Universita of 26,000 euro.

Asked about this programme

The questions this one gets.

Is this degree taught entirely in English?

Yes. The Tor Vergata course record lists the language as English, and the class schedule for the Rome semester states that all its courses are taught in English.

Where do I actually study?

In three countries. Semester 1 is at Aix Marseille University in France. Semester 2 is at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in Poland. Semester 3 is at Tor Vergata in Rome. Semester 4 is the master thesis. All three universities sign the final diploma.

Do I need IELTS or TOEFL?

Only sometimes. The programme's application page asks for a certified TOEFL or IELTS score report, or an equivalent, if you did not graduate from a university where English is the teaching language. No minimum score is published on the Tor Vergata website, so ask the coordinator before you book a test.

Is there an entrance exam?

No entrance exam is published. Tor Vergata classifies the degree as open access with evaluation of your curriculum, and your application is assessed on the documents you submit.

What does a year cost?

The Student Handbook for 2026/2027 does not place this degree in a higher contribution band, so contribution class 1 applies. Under ordinary taxation that runs from 0 up to a maximum of 2,270 euro a year, plus 156 euro of regional tax and stamp duty, which is due in every case. Filing an ISEE-Universita can lower the contribution.

When is the application deadline?

Not published yet. The programme's application page currently reads that the deadline for applications 2027 will be ready soon.

One programme, one university, once a year.

That is what Universitaly allows. Three questions tell you where you stand before you spend that choice: the degree level, what the visa wants in the bank, and how much calendar is left.
