A three year bachelor taught fully in English that covers mechanics, energetics, electronics and ICT together, then lets you specialise in one of them in the final year. It suits a student who wants an Italian engineering degree in English and has not yet settled on a single branch.
The BSc in Engineering Sciences is a three year bachelor degree at Tor Vergata University of Rome. All lessons, materials and exams are in English. The Italian title is Scienze dell'Ingegneria. It sits in degree class L-9 and its course code is K73. The department is Industrial Engineering. The degree is worth 180 ECTS credits.
The university's full description
The first two years and the first semester of the third year are compulsory subjects worth 138 ECTS. They cover mathematics, physics, chemistry, computing, electronics, mechanics, thermodynamics and control systems. In the third year you choose one block of optional subjects worth 30 ECTS. Block A is Mechanical/Energy Engineering. Block B is Electronic Engineering. Block C is ICT and Internet Engineering. Block D is Mechatronics Engineering. Block E in Management Engineering runs as a trial for one academic year from 1 September 2026. The remaining credits are 3 ECTS for English, 3 ECTS of formative activities and 6 ECTS for the final exam.
Admission is open access. The Italian course page adds a compulsory check of the knowledge required for the course, and states that the result of that check does not prevent enrolment. The English language application has three procedures. Procedures A and B are for candidates who do not need a student visa, and end in an online interview. Procedure C is for candidates who need a student visa, and adds an online aptitude written test before the interview. The FAQ says the written test lasts 25 minutes and the interview 20 minutes, and that both assess motivation, English and mathematics.
The degree is in contribution class 2 in the 2026/2027 Student Handbook. Under ordinary taxation the annual contribution is 0 to 3,100 euro, scaled by the ISEE-Università household income measure. The programme FAQ gives the same range, as about 1,000 to 3,100 euro a year. A student whose family income is earned abroad may instead skip the income declaration and pay a fixed 1,000 euro a year. Engineering Sciences is not on the handbook list of programmes charged 2,500 euro under that route. Every student also pays 140 euro of Lazio regional tax and 16 euro of stamp duty. The application itself costs 30 euro.
Classes are on campus. The programme site states that online attendance is not available. Teaching for 2026/2027 starts on 21 September 2026. The first semester runs to 15 January 2027 and the second from 1 March 2027 to 11 June 2027.

Do I need an IELTS score, or is a letter from my school enough?
A letter is enough if your school taught you in English. The call asks for a statement from your School's Principal declaring the language of instruction and the number of years of tuition received in English. Otherwise you need a certificate at CEFR B2 from one of the 13 awarding bodies the call names, which include IELTS and TOEFL iBT. Duolingo is not on that list. The call publishes no minimum band or score, only the B2 level.
Do I need to know Italian?
No. The programme FAQ states that the entire programme is taught in English from the first to the final year, and that there is no requirement to know Italian at any stage. Courses, exams, materials and communication are all in English.
Is there an entrance exam?
If you need a student visa, yes. Procedure C adds an online aptitude written test before the online interview. The FAQ gives the test as 25 minutes and the interview as 20 minutes. If you do not need a visa, procedures A and B have an interview only. The call names no TOLC test for this English taught route.
