It has NOT been independently re-checked: the verification stage of that run was stopped before it reached this record, so the record renders as unverified rather than claiming a receipt it does not have. The English requirement is held at unverified unless a per programme source URL was found. Figures here are a starting point for a reader, not a checked claim. Open questions: 1) This programme's call prints no IELTS or TOEFL minimum score. Sapienza's language requirements sheet says per programme scores are in the Academic Requirements downloads at uniroma1.it/en/admissions. That page returned HTTP 403 to a direct request and Access denied in a browser, so the numeric minimum for this specific degree is unread. 2) Whether this degree requires the MoveIN online pre-selection, and whether a 30 euro pre-selection application fee applies on top of the 10.00 euro eligibility check. Sapienza's PDF listing pre-selection restricted access programmes is served as a 0 byte file at its published URL, so the list could not be read. 3) Two elective entries print on the study plan with no course title: code 10629386 in SSD IMAT-01/A, 6 CFU, year 2 semester 2, in the SPACE TRANSPORTATION group C list; and code 10628001 in SSD IIND-01/D, 6 CFU, year 2 semester 2, in the SPACECRAFT DESIGN AND INTEGRATION group B lists. Their names were not invented. 4) The fee table naming Civil and Industrial Engineering gives 2,924 euro, but its payment dates still refer to 6 November 2025 and 26 March 2026, so it may still be the 2025-2026 table rather than 2026-2027. 5) The course catalogue carries a banner reading that the 2026-2027 catalogue contents are being updated, so study plan details may still change. 6) The programme's academic regulations, which the call says govern the English proficiency assessment procedure, are not linked from any catalogue page for this course. The university’s exact wording
“From this programme's own call for applications: "As this is an international programme taught in English, proof of B2 level or equivalent proficiency in English is required for admission. If this certification is not held at the time of enrolment, it may be obtained during the first year, including through courses offered by the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering." And under Assessment of personal knowledge: "Furthermore, a good command of the English language, both written and spoken, is required, corresponding to level B2 (CEFR - Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), which must be attested by a specific certificate or through an assessment of this proficiency, to be carried out in accordance with the procedures set out in the programme's academic regulations." The call prints no IELTS or TOEFL number for this degree. Sapienza's university wide sheet sets the accepted list as FCE, IELTS (academic), TOEFL iBT, CAE, CPE, PTE General Level 3 at B2 CEFR or higher, and PTE Academic, including the IELTS Academic Home-Based Test and the TOEFL iBT Home Edition Test. Duolingo is not on that list. The same sheet limits the full medium of instruction waiver to the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, which does not include Pakistan. This programme carries no uncapped waiver line; what it carries instead is the deferral above, which lets the certificate be obtained during year one.”

Entry requirements

What this call asks of you.

The admission model first, because it is the one that closes a degree for a year. Everything below it is quoted from the university's call for applications for this cycle, in its order.

  • How it admits

    Open access

    accesso libero

    The university's own wording
“The official call is headed, in Italian, "Modalità di ammissione al Corso di laurea magistrale con verifica dei requisiti e della preparazione personale in: Space and astronautical engineering", and in English "Admission procedure for the Master's degree programme with assessment of entry requirements and personal knowledge in: Space and astronautical engineering". Neither language version contains "accesso programmato", "numero chiuso", "posti disponibili", "graduatoria", "selezione", "restricted", "limited number", "places available", "ranking" or "quota". Admission is conditional on meeting the requirements, not on placing within a capped cohort, so this is open access with verification of requirements.”

The degree

About this degree.

A two year Master of Science in degree class LM-20, taught fully in English at Sapienza's Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, built on spaceflight mechanics, gas dynamics, rocket propulsion, space structures and space systems. It suits an engineering graduate aiming at launchers, satellites or space missions, with four tracks covering space transportation, spacecraft design, exploration, and payloads for telecommunication, navigation and Earth observation.

Space and astronautical engineering is a two year Master of Science at Sapienza University of Rome. It sits in degree class LM-20. It is run by the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering with the Department of Ingegneria Meccanica e Aerospaziale. The catalogue records the language as English and the lesson mode as Conventional, in Person. The code for the Infostud system is 33484.

The university's full description

The first year is fixed and carries 60 CFU across seven taught courses. In the first semester students take CONTROL SYSTEMS, GAS DYNAMICS and SPACEFLIGHT MECHANICS. In the second semester they take ELECTRONICS, ROCKET PROPULSION, SPACE MISSIONS AND SYSTEMS and SPACE STRUCTURES.

The degree has four curricula. Three share that same first year: SPACE TRANSPORTATION, SPACECRAFT DESIGN AND INTEGRATION, and SPACECRAFT MISSIONS AND EXPLORATION. The fourth is SPACE PAYLOADS AND APPLICATIONS FOR TELECOMMUNICATION, NAVIGATION, AND EARTH OBSERVATION. That fourth track has its own first year, which replaces two courses with SATELLITE PAYLOADS FOR COMMUNICATION NAVIGATION AND RADAR OBSERVATION at 9 CFU and FUNDAMENTALS OF EARTH OBSERVATION at 9 CFU.

Every curriculum includes CONCEPTUAL DESIGN OF A SPACE MISSION at 3 CFU in the second year, 12 CFU of free choice credits, and a final exam worth 21 CFU. The first three curricula add 18 CFU from a group B elective list and 6 CFU from a group C list. The elective titles differ by track. Group B options include LIQUID ROCKET ENGINES, SOLID ROCKET MOTORS, COMBUSTION, HYPERSONICS, ADVANCED SPACECRAFT DYNAMICS, INTERPLANETARY TRAJECTORIES, SPACE ROBOTIC SYSTEMS and TECHNOLOGY OF AEROSPACE MATERIALS. Group C options include OPTIMAL FILTERING, SPACECRAFT POWER SYSTEMS, SPACE GEODESY AND GEOMATICS, EARTH OBSERVATION and HUMAN FACTORS. The fourth curriculum instead fixes GEOPHYSICAL AND ASTROPHYSICAL FLUID DYNAMICS and SPACECRAFT PROPULSION in year two and chooses 6 CFU in group B and 6 CFU in group C.

Admission runs by verification of entry requirements and personal knowledge. The call publishes no cap on places and no ranking list. It sets a weighted average of 22/30 or higher in the first cycle degree as the personal knowledge threshold. It also sets minimum CFU counts in named Italian SSD subject areas, and those counts change with the applicant's average. An applicant who falls short must take single examinations assigned by the Admissions Committee. An applicant holding a foreign qualification is assessed by the Admissions Committee on academic record, personal motivation and supporting documents, and may be invited to an interview.

The programme asks for proof of English at CEFR level B2. The call allows that level to be shown by a certificate or by an assessment carried out under the programme's academic regulations. It also states that an applicant who does not hold the certificate at enrolment may obtain it during the first year, including through courses offered by the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering.

The admission procedure fee is 10.00 euro, paid through Infostud from 2 July 2026 using code 33484. An applicant from a non-EU country who needs a student visa must request the eligibility check by 15 September 2026 and must also hold a letter of pre-acceptance. Sapienza publishes the standard annual contribution for its second bracket, which names Civil and Industrial Engineering, as 2,924 euro, alongside a regional tax of 140 euro and stamp duty of 16 euro. That contribution is the standard maximum and is reduced according to the ISEE income assessment. Classes for 2026-2027 begin on Thursday 24 September 2026.

Asked about this programme

The questions this one gets.

Is there a limited number of places?

No. The official call sets out an admission procedure with verification of entry requirements and personal knowledge. It publishes no cap on places and no ranking list. Admission depends on meeting the requirements.

What English score do I need?

The call for this degree asks for CEFR level B2. It prints no IELTS or TOEFL number. Sapienza accepts FCE, IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, CAE, CPE, Pearson PTE General Level 3 at B2 or higher, and Pearson PTE Academic. Duolingo is not accepted.

Can I apply if I do not have an English certificate yet?

The call states that if the certification is not held at the time of enrolment, it may be obtained during the first year, including through courses offered by the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering. Confirm this in writing with the Student Affairs Office before you rely on it.

Does a degree taught in English exempt me from the English requirement?

Only for six countries. Sapienza waives the requirement for the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Pakistan is not on that list.

What is my deadline if I need a student visa?

15 September 2026. The call names it as the only applicable date for applicants from non-EU countries requiring a student visa. The other dates, 15 October 2026, 17 November 2026 and 17 December 2026, are not open to you. 14 January 2027 is reserved for Sapienza graduates.

What does it cost to apply?

The eligibility check costs 10.00 euro. You pay it through Infostud with course code 33484, from 2 July 2026.

What mark do I need in my bachelor's degree?

A weighted average of 22/30 or higher, which is 73.3 percent. You also need minimum CFU counts in named Italian subject areas, and those counts get easier as your average rises.

How much is tuition?

Sapienza lists 2,924 euro a year as the standard contribution for its second bracket, which names Civil and Industrial Engineering. A regional tax of 140 euro and stamp duty of 16 euro are added. The contribution is a maximum and is reduced according to the ISEE income assessment.

One programme, one university, once a year.

That is what Universitaly allows. Three questions tell you where you stand before you spend that choice: the degree level, what the visa wants in the bank, and how much calendar is left.
