Science and Technology for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage

One programme code covers two curricula. One is taught in Italian. One is taught in English and the study plan lists it as "Science and Technology for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage - in lingua inglese". Sapienza's presentation page says the English curriculum "is more oriented towards aspects related to the biological sciences, with a specific focus on related BIO disciplines". Two first year core modules are shared and taught in English. The study plan prints them as GEOSCIENCES AND PLANT BIOLOGY FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE at 12 CFU and CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL METHODS at 9 CFU. English curriculum electives on the plan include ADVANCED CHEMICAL METHODS IN ARCHAEOLOGICAL MATERIALS SCIENCE, ORGANIC CHEMISTRY AND DYES, ADVANCED PHYSICAL METHODS APPLIED TO CULTURAL HERITAGE, GEOMATERIALS FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE, CLIMATE RISK ASSESSMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE, ADVANCED BIOLOGICAL METHODS APPLIED TO CULTURAL HERITAGE, BIOARCHAELOGY AND CULTURAL HERITAGE, GEOPHYSICS APPLIED TO CULTURAL HERITAGE, ARCHAEOMETRY AND LABORATORY OF ARCHAEOMETRY, MOLECULAR BIOLOGY FOR BIODETERIORATION: MECHANISMS AND DIAGNOSIS and STONE TOOL TECHNOLOGY LABORATORY. Year two carries a 3 CFU activity and a final exam worth 30 CFU. The presentation page says training is completed by an internship at a university laboratory or at a public or private body in the sector.

Admission is not capped. The Italian catalogue page prints "Modalità di accesso: Verifica dei requisiti e della preparazione personale". Sapienza checks that you hold the required credits, then assesses you, rather than ranking you against a fixed number of places. You need a three year degree or an equivalent foreign qualification. The call asks for 54 CFU in core subjects across MAT, CHIM, FIS, GEO, BIO, INF and ING-IND, plus 6 CFU across L-ANT, L-ART, M-STO, ICAR, IUS and SECS. An interview with the Teaching Committee is compulsory for every applicant and is held remotely. The admission requirements sheet sets a minimum mark of 75 out of 100 for this programme.

The English rule is set for this programme by name. The sheet accepts IELTS 5.5 or higher, TOEFL iBT 80 or higher, Cambridge English B2 First or higher, and Trinity College London ISE II or higher. The waiver on this programme's entry is limited by country. It covers native speakers, an English taught diploma or degree from an accredited institution in the EU, EEA, Schengen, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States, and an International Baccalaureate or GCSE. Pakistan is not on that list, so a degree taught in English in Pakistan does not waive the requirement. The programme's own call adds one route the sheet does not print. It says admission also requires an assessment of English at B2 level for applicants who do not hold a recognised certificate.

Sapienza has not published tuition for 2026-2027. The tuition page says the figures appear after 30 September. The admissions page states that full tuition for bachelor's and master's programmes is 300 to 1500 euro a year, set by country of residence. Students who declare income in Italy are charged on the ISEE scale instead. The pre-selection application fee is 30 euro for each application submitted, with a maximum of two applications a year and no waiver. The eligibility check on Infostud costs a further 10 euro.

The 2026-2027 cycle is nearly shut. Pre-selection for non-EU applicants who need a visa ran from 22 December 2025 to 15 May 2026 and has closed. Universitaly pre-enrolment closed on 30 June 2026. The last Infostud eligibility date for that group is 15 September 2026. A student applying from Pakistan now is in practice applying for 2027-2028, and Sapienza has not published those dates.
