Holders of a qualification from a foreign education system have equivalence checked by the Area Educational Board on their academic record, their course syllabuses and an interview.

About this degree.
A two year Master of Science in nanotechnology at Sapienza in Rome, run as two parallel tracks of which one is taught entirely in English for international students. It suits graduates of industrial or electronic engineering, physics or chemistry who want to design devices, materials and processes at the micro and nano scale.
Sapienza runs this degree as Ingegneria delle Nanotecnologie, programme code 33496, in Italian degree class LM-53. It lasts two years and 120 CFU. Teaching is in person in Rome, under the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering and the Faculty of Information Engineering, Computer Science and Statistics. The catalogue lists the language as Italian and English because the degree has two tracks with the same academic content. Track A is taught mostly in Italian. Track B is called Nanotechnology Engineering, is taught entirely in English, and is the track Sapienza directs international students to.

The English track has seven compulsory courses worth 66 CFU. They are Chemistry for Nanotechnology (9 CFU), Continuum Mechanics (6 CFU), MODERN PHYSICS FOR NANOTECHNOLOGY (12 CFU), Surface Engineering and Nanostructured Materials (12 CFU), Electron Microscopies and Related Techniques (9 CFU), MICRO-NANOFLUIDICS (9 CFU) and MICRO-NANO DEVICES AND MATERIALS FOR ELECTRICAL ELECTROMAGNETIC APPLICATIONS AND FUNDAMENTALS (9 CFU).
On top of those you take 12 CFU from a laboratory and specialist group of thirteen courses, which includes Sensors and electrical-electromagnetic characterization laboratory, LABORATORIES OF ATOMISTIC AND MICRO-NANO-FLUIDICS SIMULATIONS, Nanoelectronics Laboratory, BIOPHOTONICS LABORATORY, OPTICS, LASER FUNDAMENTALS and NANOBIOTECHNOLOGY. You then take one course of 6 CFU from a group of three, being TRANSPORT PHENOMENA IN MICROSYSTEMS AND MICRO-NANO REACTIVE DEVICES, PHYSICAL METALLURGY OF INNOVATIVE NANO-STRUCTURED MATERIALS or ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING AND LASER TEXTURING. You take one more course of 6 CFU from a second group of three, being SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICES, Artificial materials - metamaterials and plasmonics for electromagnetic applications or Optoelectronics. The rest of the 120 CFU is 12 CFU of free choice, 1 CFU of other activities useful for working, and a 17 CFU final exam. Laboratory work runs through both years.
For an applicant holding a foreign qualification the entry route is the MoveIn pre-selection, which the degree programme states is compulsory for international students. Sapienza publishes a minimum bachelor grade of 75 out of 100 for this programme. English must be at CEFR level B2. The application fee is 30 euro per application, with a maximum of two applications per student per academic year, and Sapienza publishes no waiver of the fee. A positive pre-selection outcome is not admission on its own, and the applicant must still complete the admission procedure in the programme's own call.
Sapienza publishes full tuition of 300 to 1500 euro a year for its bachelor and master programmes, set by country of residence.
